Brooke Zrno Grisham, CLU®,is CEO of The Nautilus Group. She joined Nautilus in 1999 and started one of its most innovative departments –Model Office –which grew from an ancillary support resource for the Nautilus Members’ staff to a comprehensive practice management consultancy. In 2010, Brooke assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer for The Nautilus Group, supervising seven individual departments and managing a staff of more than 35 people. Prior to working for Nautilus, Brooke was a corporate trainer for a Fortune 100 company. She attended Boise State University and The University of Texas at Dallas, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Communications.


Richard Baier, JD, CLU®, ChFC®, AEP, CRPC®, CFP®, FLMI, joined The Nautilus Group in 2010 as a Case Consultant in the Business and Estate unit. As an attorney with more than 30 years of financial, estate, business and benefits planning experience, he has provided sales concepts and supporting materials on estate and business planning and other advanced sales topics to companies and producers across the nation. Richard received his bachelor’s degree in history from Brigham Young University and his law degree from Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis. Richard has passed the Series 6, 7, 26, and 63 securities licensing exams administered by FINRA.


James S. Barry, JD, LL.M., CLU®, ChFC®, serves as the head of the Nautilus Plus unit at The Nautilus Group. He provides personalized consultative services to an elite group of 25 Member Agents, bringing client solutions for estate, business, insurance, and charitable planning. Jim and his staff are also available as a resource to facilitate the brainstorming process between the Nautilus Member Agent, the client, and the client’s circle of advisors. Jim has been in the life insurance industry since 1982. He received his law degree from the University of Georgia, his LL.M. in Taxation from the College of William and Mary, and earned significant credits at the University of Miami LL.M. program in Estate Planning. Jim is a member of AALU.


Todd Beaird, JD, LL.M.,started at The Nautilus Group in 2011. Todd combines his broad knowledge of estate tax law with a strong quantitative background to assist members on large cases regarding available planning options and their impacts on clients. Todd earned both his BA in Economics and his JD from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, and is a member of the Oregon State Bar. He earned an LL.M. in tax from Boston University.


Darla L. Bean started at Nautilus in 2001, working with Brooke Zrno to develop the Model Office program. In 2010, Darla moved to the High Net Worth Market unit, assisting Heather Davis with company-wide marketing initiatives and customizing promotional materials for Nautilus Members. Darla previously served as an editor with a small business-to- business publishing house, and has extensive experience in client service industries. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in 1998 from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX.


Spencer D. Brown, JD, joined The Nautilus Group Case Development staff in 2009. He received his BBA in Marketing from the University of Texas at Austin and graduated Cum Laude with a JD from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. While in law school, Spencer served as a staff writer for the SMU International Law Review and as a law clerk for a successful Dallas litigation firm. Prior to joining Nautilus, Spencer enjoyed a successful eight-year career as a product manager with a Fortune 500 technology company.


Britney Zollinger Clark, JD, CFP®, joined The Nautilus Group Case Development staff in 2006. Britney works with Member Agents to develop sophisticated estate and business plans, along with customized research. Britney is a valuable resource for charitable planning issues, and conducts charitable planning training for Nautilus staff. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, and a JD from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, IL.


DeLynn K. Davis, JD, CLU®, ChFC®, joined The Nautilus Group in 2006 with 15 years of experience in life insurance, financial planning and trust business development, including seven years in advanced marketing with The Prudential and The Equitable, where she had extensive joint sales experience. DeLynn holds a JD from the University of Houston and a B.A. in psychology from Drake University, with an accounting minor, where she graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.


Heather Davis, JD, CLU®, ChFC®, currently serves as the High Net Worth Marketing Manager and oversees marketing for both the Advanced Planning Group and The Nautilus Group®. Heather has worked in the life insurance and financial services industry since 1997 and has been with New York Life Insurance Company since 1999. She’s authored numerous life insurance, retirement, business succession and estate planning articles and is an experienced speaker and continuing education instructor. Heather heads the Center of Influence initiative, and is the program director for the Feldman Forum, an annual continuing education seminar that is broadcast live to all New York Life agents. Heather graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Nebraska where she received both her BA and JD degrees. Heather also is a registered representative with NYLIFE Securities LLC, and a member of both the Nebraska and Texas State Bar Associations.


Carolyn England, JD, started her career at New York Life in 2007 as a consultant for the Advanced Planning Group where she developed large cases and provided on-site support for the Houston General Office. She joined Nautilus in 2011, specializing in the development of life insurance and estate planning strategies for both high net worth individuals and closely-held businesses. Carolyn attended Boston University and The University of Texas at Dallas and holds a BS in Business Administration. She earned her JD from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and has worked as an attorney in private practice, focusing on estate planning and family law issues.


Karen Fishell, CLU®, has been with The Nautilus Group since 1998. She works with Member Agents to provide detailed client presentations for corporate executive benefit arrangements including non-qualified deferred compensation plans for companies and non-profit organizations as well as executive bonus plans. Prior to joining Nautilus, Karen worked 11 years for one of the nation’s largest COLI and executive benefits organizations, providing support to top financial professionals across the country with their executive benefits planning design needs.


Eric J. Hancz, MBA, CFA, CPA, ChFC®, CVA, CLU®, has been with The Nautilus Group since 2002 as Director of Finance. He holds a BA degree from Franklin College in Franklin, IN, and an MBA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Eric is a Chartered Financial Analyst, a Chartered Financial Consultant and a Certified Valuation Analyst. Prior to coming to Nautilus, Eric worked as Senior Financial Analyst for a business valuation and operations management consulting firm.


Richard Holman, JD, CFP®, CLU®, came to The Nautilus Group from Genworth Financial, where he served as an Advanced Marketing Attorney. Prior to that, he was with Raymond James & Associates as a Financial Planning Consultant and an Advanced Case Design Specialist. He is a published speaker at meetings on estate planning, special needs, asset protection, and retirement planning. He also is part of New York Life’s Affluent Initiative, and develops and promotes Lifetime Wealth Strategies at The Nautilus Group. He earned his undergraduate degree in Politics from the University of Miami, and his JD from Florida State University.


Michelle M. Kenyon, JD, CPA, joined The Nautilus Group in 2009, where she serves with the Nautilus Plus unit leader to provide personalized consultative services to an elite group of 25 Member Agents. Michelle began her legal career in Atlanta, Georgia. Her professional experience includes estate planning, mergers and acquisitions, taxation, and general corporate work. Michelle’s undergraduate degree in accounting is from Texas Christian University, and she holds a JD from Pepperdine University School of Law.


Jerry McCaffrey leads the Model Office program and serves as Chief Operating Officer. He has been with New York Life for more than 20 years in various positions. He most recently managed Eagle Strategies LLC, our Registered Investment Advisor, where assets under management grew to over 3 billion dollars during his tenure. Jerry’s time with New York Life has included five years with NYLIM, where he managed the business systems analyst group. He then joined NYLIFE Securities, where he managed several different units including Product Development. Jerry’s focus within Model Office is assisting Agents with the financial and budgeting aspects of their business and marketing plans. Jerry graduated summa cum laude from Dominican College in New York with a BS degree in management information systems.


R. Matthew Pate, JD, LL.M., has been with Nautilus since 2004. Matt is in charge of the Case Consultants, providing high-level technical consultations and analyses for Nautilus staff as well as on-going development of Nautilus presentation and technical materials. He also conducts reviews, estate and business planning strategies, consultative services and research for Nautilus Member Agents and their clients. Matt received his B.S. from Georgetown University in 1998 with majors in Accounting, Finance and International Business; his law degree from the University of Texas in 2001; and his LL.M. from Southern Methodist University in 2003.


Corbett Ray, MBA, CFP®, joined the Nautilus Group in 2008 to provide financial plan reviews for member agents affiliated with Eagle Strategies. Corbett came to New York Life from a financial services career which began in 1999. He was an agent, Registered Representative, and Investment Adviser Representative for a large international financial services firm. Since then he has had extensive experience providing financial planning services for high net worth clients in complex situations. Corbett graduated from Rice University with a BA in Economics, and received his MBA in Finance/Accounting from Tulane University.


Gilbert Resendez, JD, CPA, came to New York Life Insurance Company in 2002 to spearhead its Business Markets initiative. In 2004 he was appointed to manage the company’s Advanced Planning Resource Center, and in 2007 Gilbert became head of New York Life’s Advanced Planning Group, a team of 19 legal and tax consultants who support agents working in the advanced markets. In 2012, Gilbert moved to The Nautilus Group, where he spearheads special projects and provides product expertise for the case consultants on staff. Gilbert received his BBA and JD, both with honors, from The University of Texas at Austin, and was admitted to the Order of the Coif–Texas Chapter upon graduation. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy, a member of the State Bar of Texas, and licensed as a Registered Representative with NYLIFE Securities LLC.


Kathryn Rodgers, JD, LL.M, joined The Nautilus Group Case Development staff in 2007. Kathryn received her BS in Accounting from Louisiana State University, her JD from St. Mary’s University, and her LL.M. from Southern Methodist University. Prior to joining Nautilus, Kathryn worked as a manager at a local accounting firm. As a case consultant at Nautilus, Kathryn assists agents in the development and implementation of estate and business plans for clients. She also provides advanced tax research.


Sarah Frances Scarborough, MBA, joined Nautilus in 2010 and facilitates the Model Office program. As part of the Model Office team, Sarah Frances assists Nautilus Member Agents and associates in developing back-office efficiency, annual business planning, and strategic marketing. Additionally, she works with Member Agents and associates in locating general human resources and staff development materials. Sarah Frances holds an MBA with a concentration in marketing management from Johns Hopkins University and a BS in international trade and finance from Louisiana State University.


Rob Shapard has been with New York Life since August 2013 and brings 20+ years experience leading customer sales/service operations, project management, and data analysis in the financial services industry. In his current role as Corporate Vice President – Financial Modeling, he supports The Nautilus Group through managing various projects, Model Office engagement, and business analytics. Rob graduated from Texas Christian University, where he received a Bachelors of Business Administration in Finance.


Amanda Wright, JD, CLU®, joined The Nautilus Group in 2006, where she is responsible for case development and research regarding estate, business, tax, and insurance issues. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in Spanish from Butler University in Indianapolis, IN. She earned her JD from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, where she graduated with honors. Amanda’s interest in estate planning during law school led to opportunities that included volunteer work with Dallas Legal Hospice.
